Quick Stop in Auckland

November 22 – November 23

After a 5 hour flight, we landed in Auckland, New Zealand, with a sunny welcome. Rarotonga was 3000 kilometers behind us, and with many new adventures yet to come we braced ourselves for our return to the big city…

After a good 3 hours spent going through immigration (and getting our hiking shoes thoroughly searched for “foreign organic items”), we entered a much darker and much colder Auckland. Obviously, compared to Rarotonga, the weather wasn’t exactly great.

Our first night was spent in a small, low-cost student apartment complex in the company of a Chinese couple next door.

After an amazing kebab, a good night of sleep and sorting through our non-summer clothes for the first time in 2 month, we headed out for our first real view of Auckland.

However, after only half-a day, we were on the move again, saying goodbye to Auckland and on our way to Matata for a quick trip to the Shire!
